Daily usage
The Daily Usage report shows day-by-day data consumption and SMS activity across your device fleet. Use this report to identify usage trends, spot anomalies, and compare consumption across time periods.
Daily usage data is updated every few hours. For real-time data, use the Live usage report.
Questions this report answers

- Are there any unexpected spikes or drops in daily data usage?
- How does this month’s daily usage compare to last month?
- What is the daily breakdown of upload versus download volume?
- How many SMS messages were sent or received each day?

How usage is counted
Reports can show different data-usage totals for the same period. This is expected: each report counts usage along two dimensions.
- Paid vs zero-rated data: Some data is zero-rated (free) and isn’t charged. This is most commonly traffic from SIMs in factory test mode (FTM). Some reports show paid volume only, while others show paid volume plus zero-rated volume.
- Which SIMs are included: Some reports count only SIMs that were activated at least once during the month. Others also include SIMs that stayed in factory test mode for the entire month.
Because of this, the same month can produce three different totals, from lowest to highest:
- Paid volume from activated SIMs only.
- Paid volume plus zero-rated (FTM) volume from activated SIMs.
- Paid volume plus zero-rated (FTM) volume from activated SIMs, plus zero-rated volume from SIMs that stayed in factory test mode all month.
The Daily Usage report reflects total consumption (all data across all SIMs), so its total is the most inclusive (the highest figure above). Reports such as Data usage per device policy separate paid volume from total volume and count activated SIMs only, so their totals are typically lower.
Invoices reflect paid volume only. Zero-rated data, including factory test mode traffic, is always excluded before billing. A report’s total volume isn’t an invoice figure and shouldn’t be expected to match one.
