Consumer eSIM

After purchasing a consumer eSIM in the Webshop, emnify automatically creates virtual devices and assigns the eSIM profiles. To download the consumer eSIM to your actual devices, go to the Connected Devices table and click a device where an eSIM is assigned.

In the Connected Device details, click the eSIM tab.

Deployment via Mobile Device Management (MDM)

To use an MDM to deploy your eSIM profile to your device, you need to get the EID. You can find the EID on the device packaging or barcode sticker, on the device under Settings > Info (for example, on Apple devices), or by exporting it from your MDM system.

In the eSIM tab, click Assign an EID to assign the EID of the device to the eSIM profile.

Assign EID dialog

Once you’ve assigned the EID, the eSIM profile status changes to Ready to Download. You can now go to your MDM and force a download of the eSIM profile using the Remote SIM provisioning (RSP) URL of the emnify SM-DP+: https://rsp-3128.idemia.io

For more details, refer to the individual MDM integration guides for Omnissa, Microsoft Intune, and Jamf Pro. Other MDM solutions like IBM MaaS 360, Acceleronix, and ManageEngine also support this feature.

If you assign the incorrect EID and the profile hasn’t been downloaded, contact emnify Support to correct the assignment. After the profile is downloaded to a device, you can’t reassign it. Order a new profile instead.

Assign EIDs in bulk

If you have many devices to provision, you can assign EIDs to multiple eSIM profiles at once using a CSV file instead of assigning them one at a time.

In Connected Devices, click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right corner and select Assign EIDs to eSIM profiles.

The Assign profiles to devices dialog opens, showing your available eSIM profiles and a CSV upload area.

Upload a CSV file containing the EIDs you want to assign—one EID per row, maximum 100 characters per row. You can also click Download example CSV to get a correctly formatted template. The CSV supports up to 10,000 EIDs (400 kB total) per upload.

Only eSIM profiles in status Available are eligible for EID assignment. If you have fewer available profiles than EIDs in your CSV, you’ll be prompted to order more profiles before continuing.

If any EIDs in your file are already assigned to another eSIM profile in your organization, you’ll be asked to confirm how to handle them before the assignment proceeds.

Once submitted, the assignment isn’t applied immediately. When complete, you can download a CSV of any failed EIDs with the reason for each failure.

Profiles move to Ready to Download status once the assignment is processed on the SM-DP+. Only profiles in Ready to Download status can be downloaded via your MDM.

The installation of eSIMs via QR code, activation code, and Apple Link isn’t available in self-service. Contact your account manager to request this.
